Ambre Royal is an evocative journey across epochs and
cultures, a modern reinterpretation of a story that began in 1927. Its
inspiration springs from a small carved amber purse bottle, an exquisite objet
d’art from Imperial China, which captivated the house of Atkinsons with its
exotic beauty and refined craftsmanship. That precious artefact became the
creative spark that led to the birth of Ambre Chinois, one of the first
Eastern-inspired fragrances introduced to the Western world. Its success was
such that, in 1929, a sumptuous Essence Edition was launched. Nearly a century
on, Ambre Royal offers a masterful reinterpretation of this legacy – a tribute
to an age when fragrance was elevated to high art. The fragrance opens with a
floral bouquet of ylang-ylang and magnolia, but at its heart lies Base Ambre De
Laire 84: an iconic accord created by a master perfumer in the late nineteenth
century, now given fresh contemporary life. Warm, sensual, and richly layered,
it marries the luminosity of Ambrostar with an irresistible toffee accord, all
wrapped in sumptuous precious woods.
THE NECTAR ACCORD
Envision amber’s sacred essence as nectar of the gods, where ylang-ylang’s
narcotic, intoxicating charm melds with magnolia’s delicate embrace.
THE INCANDESCENT ACCORD
To recreate amber’s incandescence, Maurice Roucel selected the exclusive Ambre
De
Laire 84, originally crafted by Georges De Laire in the early twentieth
century. This deeply sensual amber note showcases the powerful and intoxicating
Ambrostar, illuminated by a delicious caramel accord and a voluptuous blend of
precious natural woods. The accord seduces with its meditative depth, where
labdanum cistus mingles with revered frankincense oil.
THE TRANSCENDENCE ACCORD
A luxurious blend of sensual woods creates an unforgettable trail. A leathery,
smoky nuance emerges from Madagascan vetiver oil, intertwining with the creamy,
dry woody note of sandalwood oil, enveloping the senses in an aura of timeless
elegance.
